 I tried to be your guiding star
So bright, I took you for a ride
Getting higher and higher
We touched the sky

Your small faces looking at me
Curious eyes trying to see
Me, as I was trying to be
A man, a father, a sage, a seer

A force of nature, looking out
for you. Laughing out loud
Running in the fields at dawn
Playing with toys, merry go round

So I tried to be our guiding star
Brighter, I took you for a ride
Getting higher and tired
I could no longer fly

The sky torn apart, the moon
Stared at us, I failed too soon
I tried to give my best to you
For you, I was never good

The foundation I built in pine
Yellow walls, once golden, dried
By the sun, as lines 'round my eyes,
I never got to show my feelings
Staring straight, fixed to the ceiling

Still not enough

I put the weight on my back
Tried to be a guiding star,
A shadow taking you for a ride
Falling higher
Headed to the ground
I exploded, high and bright
