Melancholia
Summer leaves, autumn leaves,
They're gone, hissin' in the breeze,
As the wind kisses Mary goodbye
In a sunset lost in time.
Then I saw darkness embracing you
In a boulevard, in Paris, in youth.
It took me too as her lustful lover
While stars blackened in wonder.
Bare trees in a forest, lone swamps,
Les Champs-Élysées dépourvus des âmes,
Solitude's taken beauty as his wife,
Even though we don't find them alike.
Summer leaves, autumn leaves,
Love kisses a crying breeze.
Mary's heart's hurt, someplace
Lost in darkness, in silent grace.
